New helpful trick

I've been a bit slack with posts, life just keeps getting in the way!
But since we left Wellington Pepper has learnt a few new tricks - we're plugging away with trying to learn "limp" but it's proving to be a bit tricky (hehe) and she's learnt to cover her nose with her paw, and this weekend she learnt to put her toys away!
Here's a video of that one!

Also, we went for a walk with the fabulous Cinnamon and Mint yesterday in Conrwall park. I couldn't believe how big and beautiful the park was and we were so glad to have been invited by the beagles! We had a great time and it was a gorgeous day. I had so much fun I didn't take any pictures (sorry!) but Cinnamons Mum got one so hopefully she'll post it. We can't wait to go for more walks.
PS - Mint is even more cute in real life than in pictures

  1. Wow - that could really ruin our reputation if we actually ever put UP anything. The humans would expect it everytime.

    P.S. - The hu-dad says great training!

  2. Very nicely done! Pepper seems to be doing it without any help from you at all, it looks very smooth! I can't wait to see her other tricks. Nose over paw is one trick that I start a lot but always give up, I've never made it past the dogs swiping at their nose to get an actual hold over it.

  3. Pepper! You are so good at putting toys away! I am SO impressed. I am far behind you, as I am still learning simple retrieves.

It was SO great to see you guys yesterday! I hope to see you again soon.

    Love,
    Cinnamon

We saw you on Cinnamons blog... Welcome to Auckland! It's very lovely here, Cornwal Park is great. We live on the North Shore :)

  5. Fabulous Pepper! You are sooooo good at picking up your toys! Mom wishes she could get me to really do that trick (instead of just kind of doing it). Limp is very difficult -we've been trying to get it off and on for a long time! I am sure you will get it soon!

  7. Oh Pepper - I saw the post on Cinnamon's blog of your walk and I am SO envious!!! Wish I could have joined you guys. I loved Cornwall Park and used to walk there every week.

That is a clever trick! My human taught me that trick back in Auckland but since moving to Oz, we haven't practised it at all and when she tried to get me to do it the other day, I had totally forgotten what I was supposed to do! Duh..... :-)

  8. (from Hsin-Yi) - I forgot to mention that the Auckland agent for Mighty Mix lives in Parnell - his name is Richard Dayshar and he's very nice. We used to just go and pick up bags from him whenever we needed as we lived just round the corner but I think he will deliver to your house too. His email is: dayshar@orcon.net.nz - you can tell him I sent you! Ha! Ha! He'll probably remember me as we were the only clients who used to come and pick up the bags ourselves AND he used to have to make up special smaller 5kg bags for us as anything bigger wouldn't fit in our freezer! He thought it was mad as it wasn't as economical as a big bag but we just didn't have the space!

  9. Hah Pepper, that's a very cool trick. You could be a role model for human pups. Do you think teenagers can be clicker trained to pick stuff up. When you do the paw on nose trick lets see how you go. Mum tried with me, with my lead on my nose - nothing, peg on my whiskies, nothing, small bit of sellotape on my nose, nothing. Finally a great big thumping bit of masking tape that was bigger than me did the trick. CLICK Big licks Bodie & GOO
